What is your body aching about? Diagnostics

In a limited amount of time it is fairly hard to cover the whole subject of identifying muscular blocks and tensions. We have literally only touched on it. I am not treating the subject as closed: at every one of our next meetings I will look in detail at the assessment of one or another area of the muscular armour.

What muscular blocks and tensions are, and how they show themselves (a brief summary)

Muscular blocks and tensions show themselves both in bodily sensations and on the mental, psychological level.

Their causes are not clear-cut. They may be linked to the body's protective reactions to particular situations, or they may build up through everyday actions that at first glance do no harm either to the body or to our psychological state (micro-traumatisation).

As a result, whatever the cause, changes take place on every bodily and energetic level:

  • -the forming of a "muscular armour", a persistent tension in the body behind which certain problems of a psychological nature are hidden (anxiety, the suppression of emotion, the fear of pleasure and so on)
  • stagnation, blocking and "encapsulation" of energy in a particular part of the body — what Reich called "orgone" and what Eastern philosophy knows as "qi", "prana" and the like
  • the forming of areas of heightened tenderness, or trigger points, in muscle tissue, marked by thickening, shortening and loss of elasticity;
  • the appearance of functional blockages and restricted mobility in the joints and the spinal motion segments. Changes in posture — curvatures develop (scoliosis, a stoop, the flattening or deepening of the normal curves of the spine) — and changes in the feet (flat feet, pigeon toes, valgus foot)
