The practice of releasing emotions (hereafter, the Sedona Method) is an effective way to work through muscular blocks and clenches on your own, to free up “encapsulated energy” and to find harmony and balance. It is the safest route to working with your own emotional state, and it has a cumulative effect. Every time you shed a piece of the muscular armor, you not only think more clearly and feel calmer — you also become able to act productively in any situation, and to do it in a way that is kinder to your physical and mental health.
Everyone who has worked with this method reports very quick improvements in how they feel, emotionally and physically. On top of that, their view of life and of what lies ahead becomes clearer and brighter. Over time you too will release more and more suppressed energy, which will let you stay in a state of calm clarity in almost any situation.
The Sedona Method does not turn a person into a robot — quite the opposite. It gives you back the ability to live your emotions vividly, almost the way you did as a child, without getting stuck in them and without suppressing them. In other words, you stop using the three habitual ways most people handle feelings and emotions: suppression, avoidance and the emotional “explosion”.
After roughly two or three weeks of regular practice the method becomes "automatic" and stays with you for good. From then on it is enough simply to turn your attention to a particular feeling for it to release naturally and easily.
It has long been no secret that suppressed or stored-up emotions and feelings accumulate in the body and show up as blocks and clenches (tension, spasms, the muscular armor) in very specific areas.
That is why good results in releasing emotions can also be achieved through progressive relaxation or meditation — which in the end improves both mental health and psychosomatic complaints.
It is worth noting that so-called "good" feelings and emotions are hardly different from "bad" ones: they too show up in the body and create zones of over-excitation in the brain. That is why the Sedona Method works with every kind of emotional state, and many years of practice with exactly this approach have shown again and again how effective and how necessary such work is.
