Which three books should someone interested in psychology read? At least one from each of three areas: (1) the basics of psychological counselling, (2) an overview of the existing schools of psychology, and (3) an account of one particular counselling method.

Psychology for the melancholic, journalism for the sanguine, mathematics for the choleric, history for the phlegmatic: does an interest in a particular science — and, consequently, the choice of career — depend on temperament? It does, of course, and there is statistical evidence for it from… commerce.

Attracting the attention of those around them in a hidden, indirect, oblique way. Avoiding direct, obvious attention. Yet it is impossible not to notice them: they make noise, shuffle, trip, stammer, drop things as if by accident, complain, act up, provoke attention with their creative work and so on. Close, direct, obvious attention makes them uneasy.

There are people whose psyche is wired for logic. They are rational, logical and by-the-book. And on top of that — devilishly curious, forever experimenting and poking their nose in everywhere. We are talking about people with the “Contact with Cognition” Ego type. It is also called the “Ontological Ego type”.
