Would you like to know which dating sites people search for most often on Google? And what makes these sites stand out from the grey mass of hundreds of look-alikes? When people look for a serious dating club, for some reason they add Badoo, Tabor, Mamba, Loloo or Fotostrana to the search. In this article I will review what these sites have to offer, and at the end I will give a psychological assessment of whether they meet the criterion of being serious.
Badoo
Badoo. A dating social network, founded in 2006 by “our own people”, and at the moment the largest community for light-hearted socialising. You download the app, register and start swiping. You can like, chat, like back, and oops: a match, the two of you have liked each other! Then come conversations online, friendly meetings, dates up to and including... The statistical chance of finding the person you liked is high: 340 million users at the moment.

Anyone who wants to hang out anywhere and at any hour, in real life or virtually, will get full satisfaction here. Requests are met for every taste: from shy chatters to those looking for one-night thrills, and every gradation between these extremes. Plus a simple, intuitive app in a youthful design that makes it easy to get stuck in this world of dating.
Tabor.ru

The essence of Tabor’s “Duel Service”Mirror, mirror, Tabor.ru,
Tell me truly, tell me true:
Am I not the fairest one,
Rosiest and whitest under the sun?
Tabor.ru is a smaller network, a mere 170 times smaller than Badoo. And a bigger one for those who love to show themselves off and collect other people’s opinions about them. Take the “Duel Service” alone: a contest of “who is prettier”, “who is more stylish”, “whose ... is longer”. The winner is whoever’s avatar collects the most likes. You have to pass moderation, of course, so the reality of the characters is guaranteed.
Or take the “Photo Critic” service: you ask the public questions about yourself and receive the results of the poll. A very convenient way of finding out how far your opinion of yourself matches the way the audience perceives you.
Mamba

Mamba.ru. Probably the most venerable dating site of all: it has been around since 2003. Back then wildly popular because of its novelty, and today overrun with bots and with women with children. And there are probably more bots than women. But there are pluses too: you can wander round this world free of charge. There are limits on how much you can view, but for a first “acquaintance” that is quite enough.
It seems you can even earn money on Mamba through the Live video feature. You can send gifts costing from 1 to 50 currency units. Those gifts can in turn be exchanged for real cash. To do that you convert them into “diamonds”. 300 diamonds = 1 dollar.
Loloo
Loloo is the newcomer: it has been running since 2016 and is still warming up. Built strictly by the textbook “how to create a dating site”: standard and unmemorable. What is genuinely intriguing is its extremely rich search functionality, especially the “Sexual preferences” section. You can search, for instance, by:
- Erogenous zones (from ears to hands)
- Favourite positions (nothing outrageous, the standard ones)
- Sexual preferences (from sex in public places to anal)
- Fetishes (from food and smoking to big... and piercings)
Quite a basic set for building a serious relationship
All in all, Loloo’s selling point is a detailed partner search. But the site does not position itself as a service for casual sex (for that the list of sexual preferences and fetishes is too short)

Fotostrana

Fotostrana is more of an entertainment resource, one that tempts you to hang around for a long time. While playing, people begin exchanging “courtesies”, and that is how they get to know each other. There are plenty of games and plenty of people playing them. These, for instance:
- “Adventure” — you get into an adventure with a participant you fancy
- “One, two, three” — a game along the lines of “Rock, paper, scissors”
- And many others of the “Vibrashki” sort
And apart from that, intrusive advertising, bots, and more bots...
A serious dating club?
By now you have probably begun to suspect that the perk and the curse of the most sought-after services lie in:
- lightness, playfulness and entertainment
- sexual encounters
- bots, fake profiles and the hiding of who you are
As friends of mine put it, these are sites for finding meat. Sometimes you can, no doubt, meet someone that way. And that is exactly where the recommended recipe comes from:
advice given by some counsellorsDate seven partners at the same time
Why not ten? Because our “working memory” lets us hold seven names, give or take one, and after that you start getting them mixed up. For me this is looking for a needle in a haystack: when you do not know what to look for, where to look or by which signs, the concept of “poking a finger at your smartphone and liking among a hundred photographs” is a very practical way out, and here the sites above really do save a lot of time. Or do they?
A twist on an old jokeA man is looking for something on a dating site. A counsellor comes up to him and asks: “What are you doing here?” The man answers: “Looking for a companion for life.” “And where did you lose her?” “In real life.” “Then why look here?” “Because the light is better here.”
Where should you look if you want a family? Through counsellors!

There is another option: to look for the person who genuinely suits you for a simple, easy and joyful personal life. That can happen in the “Dating by Freud” club, where counsellors do the matching. Partners are brought together by specialists on three matches: (1) compatible personality types, (2) matching geography and (3) a suitable psychological age.
What matters here is this: it is not the photographs or the sexual preferences that count (those, it goes without saying, will match). The main thing is psychological compatibility.
It happens in three stages:
- At the first online meeting our counsellors determine your personality type in the course of an hour-long personal interview.
- At the second meeting we discuss the personality type of the partner who suits you. You receive a full “psychological portrait” of your other half. That alone is enough to know whom to look for, where, and by which markers.
- And of course you will receive the contact details of people with whom you could build such a relationship, or else we will find them together)
