Whenever people discuss introverts and extraverts, the claim comes up: "and then there are ambiverts". Rumour has it that ambiverts are people who possess the traits of both introverts and extraverts. They are even credited with super-qualities, and it is claimed that they are the majority. Is the ambivert a separate personality type, is it really so good to be one, and why are they never identified as a group of their own — that is what we shall look at in this article.

You do not become an introvert, you are born one. In short, that is roughly half of humanity. These are people who know everything about themselves and who come to know the world around them through that knowledge. An introvert standing in front of a mirror is not looking at himself. He or she is rather studying the mirror — checking how accurately it reflects the Introvert.

A melancholic is an Extravert in the Passive Life Position. Harmony, friendship, relationships, family, home and children matter to them — and world peace probably would not go amiss either. They need contact with others, because it is in contact with the world that they come to know themselves far better.

An extravert is a person who comes to know himself through the response of the world around him. Hence the talkativeness (telling a story in order to work out one's own thoughts), the sociability (in order to get feedback) and, quite often, the theatricality (in order to draw other people's attention).
