Sometimes we end up disappointed in people. Why does that happen? Are people all bad, or where is the problem❓
????If we look closely at the word "disenchantment", we see that it is made of at least two parts: the prefix "dis-" and the second part, "enchantment". So if we had not been enchanted by someone, if we had not thought better of them than they deserve, we would never be dis-enchanted either. Makes sense❓
????We often carry idealistic notions of what the other person ought to be like, how they ought to behave with us, what they ought to do for us, what they ought to give us, what they ought to work out for themselves — so that we can go on being enchanted by them.
➡️But the trouble is that all of this is simply our illusions about the person, not the person themselves. We never see who they really are to begin with; we see what we want to see and fall for it. So who is there to blame afterwards❓
????????Is a person really supposed to match our notions of them❓ If they had at least promised us as much, fair enough — and even then it is an open question how much we should expect from other people and their grand promises at all...
➡️More often than not it is not about other people at all, but about us, because we expect far too much. And we forget that perfect people do not exist. Nor, most likely, do wholly bad ones.
????There are simply people... There are simply men, simply women, simply children... There are simply husbands, simply wives... There are simply mums, simply dads... None of them is perfect, and neither are we❗❗❗
☝️It is foolish to expect perfection from imperfect people????. That way you can only end up disappointed...
Do you think an imperfect person is automatically a bad person❓ Let's think it through together❓
