Recovery after Covid-19

Recovery after Covid-19

Whatever form your Covid took, recovery from it is very slow. The traces the illness leaves behind: fatigue, poorer memory, disturbed sleep, heightened anxiety, fears, panic attacks, depression, a sense of helplessness, emotional tension and others.

If you have had this illness, do not rush back to your usual way of life all at once. Try to do it gradually. It is not for nothing that Covid comes with a long sick leave and with time to recover after hospital. Literally every day counts.

Make a note of the following if you have been ill:

  1. Start your day with positive thoughts about the day ahead. You can use affirmations prepared in advance.
  2. Do your morning exercises together with a set of breathing exercises.
  3. Always have breakfast and eat well through the day.
  4. Drink water and take vitamins.
  5. Walk in the fresh air. If you live in a block of flats, walk up one or two floors on foot.
  6. Air all the rooms in your house or flat.
  7. Try to be in bed before 23:00.
  8. Listen to yourself, to your sensations (in the body, in taste). Ask yourself: what do I want most right now? Try to give that to your body and to your system.
  9. Keep in touch with your relatives, your friends and your colleagues.
  10. Remember that recovery after Covid is a long process, one that costs you energy and emotion.
  11. Do not hurry yourself; give yourself the time and the chance to recover fully. Do everything at your own pace and in your own rhythm.
  12. And one more thing that should not be forgotten: a month or three after the illness, be sure to have tests done and to have a cardiogram, so as to prevent various complications and to give your body the help it needs in good time.
