Right, let's begin…
1. Kneel down and take your knees shoulder-width apart. Your big toes touch each other.
2. Lean forward, place your outstretched arms on the mat and slowly slide them forward, towards the front edge of the mat (the floor, a rug…). You can also simply put your hands on the floor in front of your body.
3. Slowly lower your hips back so that, ideally, you end up sitting on your heels.
4. Touch the floor with your forehead.
5. Holding the position, take 5–10 deep breaths.
Welcome to day two of the 30-day challenge for better posture and better balance.
Starting today we do the “Japanese bow” (in yoga — the child's pose) for 5 minutes twice a day. This exercise stretches the back, widens the spaces between the ribs and frees up space between the discs.
The “Japanese bow” is good for a range of conditions and disorders, including diabetes, erectile dysfunction, lower-back pain and stiffness between the shoulder blades. It will help us straighten up after long years of slouching and release muscular clamps.
