What the psychopathic type should strengthen

This is not a list of flaws — the strengths of the type are already there. What follows is what it usually lacks, and what can be built up with practice.

In short: emotional and sensory perception · the right to feelings, your own and other people's · letting go of hyper-control · respecting other people's boundaries · not proving that you are here · patience, the ability to wait · the world will do without total frankness · unconditional trust in the world, in people and in yourself

Emotional and sensory perception. To round out a pragmatic, realistic outlook with the ability not only to see facts but to feel them, to notice how they resonate inside. Feelings then become an instrument of self-expression: empathy and delight are things one can share.

The right to feelings, your own and other people's. To accept your own weaknesses and to grant others the right to express emotion. Out of this grows an environment in which people feel safe to speak.

Letting go of hyper-control. Control over the situation and over people rests on constant tension and fear. Once it is released, trusting relationships become possible for the first time.

Respecting other people's boundaries. Sensing where your own ends and someone else's begins is a condition of healthy interaction, in which the other person can stay themselves without fear of intrusion.

Not proving that you are here. Understanding that your presence in the world needs no continuous proof takes off the pressure and the need to live up to expectations. From the same source comes respect for other people's values and traditions, even where they do not match your own.

Patience, the ability to wait. Accepting life as it is and admitting that not everything comes at once. The capacity to wait and to observe enriches experience and deepens the understanding of the process, not only of the result.

The world will do without total frankness. Silence is sometimes a wiser choice than the truth spoken to the very end. Being able to leave some things unsaid brings inner peace.

Unconditional trust in the world, in people and in yourself. The foundation of a harmonious state: trust makes it possible to act without justifying your decisions all the time, either to yourself or to others.
