In this article I want to tell you about my own search for myself, and about a meeting that helped me understand a great deal.
It happened back in the 2000s.
My inner turmoil, my search for the meaning of life and a long spell of stagnation led me, as fate would have it, to a rather curious acquaintance.
Through a good friend of mine I was invited to meet a Shaman — no, not the kind who dances round a fire with a tambourine, wailing as he goes.
An ordinary young man, in a small office in the centre of town, with an assistant in the anteroom.
I came to the meeting with no illusions that anyone could answer the swarm of questions in my head or lead me out of my personal dead end. I was simply curious — plain human curiosity, nothing more.
When he asked what day, month and year I was born, I answered without holding anything back, thinking: “here we go again, now he will start telling me about my star sign, which I know perfectly well without him.”
And indeed, he laid out before me a chart of the planets with the signs of the zodiac inside it and began explaining some quite simple truths.
My question was quite an ordinary one: “Who are Men and who are Women?”
Nothing he said below was news to me, but it got through to me and has stayed with me to this day.
Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus — everybody knows that, and there is even a book with that title, written some time after all these events.
Man is the vertical, Woman is the horizontal, and together they form a Cross. Rather symbolic, isn't it?
In his view — though I find it debatable — Men are the more spiritual beings, while Woman is the more down-to-earth one, the keeper of the hearth, the keeper of her Man and her children. She is the force standing behind your shoulders and covering your back.
So as not to leave the reader in gloom and sadness, let me say this:
A great deal was said about how a family ought to be arranged, who sits at the head of the table and so on. I learned nothing new for myself; what was interesting was the feeling of it, because along with the words you could sense the man's real energy, his belief in what he was saying — and he shared it with me, put it before me to judge. Whether to accept that position or not is for each of us to decide.
And finally: life is a chaotic thing, and quite often we simply need someone from outside to tell us what we already know. And then the knowledge is somehow reset, and with fresh force and energy it gives us an understanding of what to do.
Thank you for your attention!
