What Schizoid types genuinely want
To manipulate Schizoid types you need to know not only their fears, but also the needs whose satisfaction gives them enormous pleasure. And those needs grow straight out of their sore spots.
Painful as closeness is for them, Schizoid types reach for it unconsciously all the same. Their Ego type is Emotions, and emotions cannot be lived out in solitude. This spills over into their neurotic need for belonging:
- Clan bonds (my home — my family — my kin). “My home is my castle” is their line.
- Freedom from society.
- I am the master of my own life, my inner world, my ideas.
The greatest pleasure for Schizoid types lies in thinking, in ideas and in solving problems. They are the Sherlock Holmeses of everyday life, and Albert Einstein is their most striking representative. They adore:
- Creative ideas, hard problems and cracking them, taking on an intellectual challenge.
- Debates about ideas, discussions, interesting conversations.
- Books, films, theatre, ideas with a touch of symbolism.
On the other hand, it is important to see that these “games of the intellect” are nothing other than a shield against closeness. That is when Schizoid types start spinning empty verbiage — that is, using rationalization as a defense mechanism.
And Schizoid types are ambitious to the point of neurosis. They get a real kick out of:
- The feeling of “I am the very best” (at being clever, for instance).
- Carrying out their own ideas and wishes.
- “Good sex” (as the discharge of an animal instinct).
