In their careers, epileptoids thrive in the world of “rumours, gossip and scandal” — that is, in the tabloid press. Magazines and online projects, where attention is hard to come by directly and the person writing the text stays out of sight. They are the journalists or writers who invent the stories for papers like SPID-Info, the tear-jerking letters.
They are the beauticians and hairdressers who labour over other people's appearance. If stylists are more likely to be Hysteroids, then make-up artists are Epileptoids.
They are not the best doctors, but they are good ones, working in local clinics where they know the illnesses well, know how to handle waifs and strays and, most importantly, know how to “listen very attentively”. They are not the “get undressed — what are your complaints — you may go” kind. They are the ones who will make contact with patients, because that too is a way of getting attention (“it is not me getting the attention, it is the doctor”). And since they are prone to falling ill themselves, they also understand illness very well from the inside.
They are the professional devotees of theatre and music — not so much in performance as in art criticism, collecting, gathering: “Look at this corner of the painting: what was the artist trying to say?” And they really do start to get to the bottom of it. They are the gallery attendants who treat an exhibit with the utmost reverence.
Epileptoids are dominated by the neurotic need for a leading partner. For a good romance you need someone you can shift the whole of the responsibility onto.
The main fear is that of gaining attention. Accordingly, the defense is regression.
