For every personality type there is a set of careers in which it can realise its needs in a socially acceptable form.
Autistic people realise themselves perfectly in attendant roles in any field (office managers, facilities managers), or in the behind-the-scenes roles that keep the process running.
They work perfectly in the field of physical comfort — as masseurs, healers and designers. People of the Autistic type find it very hard to let anyone near their body. For them this is a rather high level of trust and a serious step, because bodily sensations and bodily comfort are the key thing. They often shake other people's hands off, keep their distance, and during a massage, instead of relaxing, they begin to tense up, to pull in their head and shoulders. And yet they are magnificent masseurs themselves, because through the sensations of the body they feel another person very well, and on top of that they join with them in a single emotional field. So for Autistic people massage is at once a field of self-realisation and a field in which trust in others is built.
Autistic people make wonderful singers and dancers. They do not dance set figures — they dance their own sensations, their own feelings and their own body. Partner dances come hard to them: there is a certain firm prescription there, plus trust is required, plus bodily contact. But they are very good at dancing self-expression and improvisation, and they sink into themselves and dance their own body. That is why their dancing creates a magical feeling. And on top of that it is a chance for them to express their need for homeostasis, to express excitation.
And in order to bring themselves into balance, autistic personalities are advised to learn to show their feelings and emotions, to develop emotional appraisal, and to work on making their actions match the result.
